Dowds designed and constructed the Mechanical and Electrical engineering services for the £40m, new build Lisburn Primary & Community Care Centre. The involvement of Dowds in the Lisburn scheme confirms its position in leading the field for the delivery of Mechanical and Electrical services in healthcare projects in Northern Ireland.
Located at the site of the city’s Lagan Valley Hospital at almost 13,000sqm, the new facility will bring together eight GP practices and enable the Trust to provide an integrated model for both primary and secondary care on the Lagan Valley site – a one stop location for the health and social care needs of the local population.
The complex consists of four floors comprising: GP consultation rooms, medical treatment facilities, dental care clinics, administration facilities, basement mechanical and electrical plantrooms housing gas-fired boiler plant, specialist medical gas, electrical switch rooms and HV substation. A roof top plant deck houses HVAC and Photovoltaic Array sized to help the project meet sustainability targets. The project also incorporates all services associated with the adjoining multi-storey car park.
